Enjoy a ‘Seuss-tastic Saturday’ March 5
Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Seuss-tastic Saturday with stories, crafts and games for the whole family 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 5 at the Lower Macungie Library. Dress up as your favorite character and bring your camera for pictures with a famous cat.
Throughout the month of February, the library will feature the paintings of Parkland Art League member Jill Stanley.
The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. March 2 to discuss “Euphoria” by Lily King.
There will be a Sensory Storytime 9:15 to 10 a.m. Feb. 27. This storytime has a special focus on providing an opportunity for children who are differently-abled to participate in storytime. The materials are at a preschool level and sensory opportunities are available during the program. The storytime is open to all and registration is not required. A responsible adult must participate in the storytime with each child.
Local authors will be available at the library throughout the day on March 12, promoting their books and materials.
The Teen Advisory Board is a group of middle school and high school students who meet 3:30 p.m. Feb. 19 to plan programs, share opinions on library materials and earn community service hours.
The library is offering a Crazy 8 Math Club for kids in grades three to five 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoons running through March 9.
Messy Mondays is a new family storytime and craft program offered this fall. The storytime is designed for the preschool skill level but the activities are designed for the whole family to work together. The next program is 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. March 7.
The next Creation Station will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 12.
Rookie Readers program for grades kindergarten through second meets 6:30 p.m. March 14. There will be stories, literacy games, writing activities and more.
Library League for grades three through five meets 6:30 p.m. March 21 for a story and hands-on exploration.

The library is accepting books for the spring book sale. The following items will not be accepted: magazines, textbooks, Reader’s Digest condensed books, cassette tapes, VHS tapes and any moldy or water damaged books.
The book sale will be held 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 6 and 7 with a bag sale 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 7. Member preview night will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. May 5.
The Friends of the Library will not meet in February. The next meeting is 10 a.m. March 19 in the library.
The Emmaus High School Orchestra will host a coffeehouse 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in the cafeteria. A wide variety of musical entertainment will be provided by the students. Coffee, hot chocolate and desserts will be available for purchase. There is a cover charge. All proceeds benefit the orchestra department.
Concordia Lutheran Church will hold Lenten Worship services 7 p.m. Feb. 17 and 24 and March 2, 9 and 16. A Lenten supper will be held 6 p.m. prior to the service. For information, call 610-965-3265.
The Emmaus High School Drama Department will present “Once Upon a Mattress” 7 p.m. March 9, 10, 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. March 12 and 13. There will be a Gold Card preview performance 6 p.m. March 8. Tickets can also be purchased at the EHS main office lobby 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Friday when school is in session beginning Feb. 22. Telephone orders will not be taken through the main office.

Eyer Middle School will present “Pirates of Penzance, Jr.” March 17, 18 and 19.
Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Cinderella” April 7, 8 and 9.
The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon March 1 and 15 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.
AARP will offer two sessions of Safe Driving for Mature Drivers: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 22 and 29; and 5 to 9 p.m. April 21 and 28. AARP will also offer a refresher class for Safe Drivers 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 12 or 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12.

Family Open Gym time is 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays for ages infant through 10 years with a parent. Proof of residency is required.
Yard waste site hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The site is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Be prepared to show a photo I.D. as proof of residency.
