Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is offering two pharmacy technician courses, one for the retail and hospital setting and the other for an institutional or manufacturing setting.
Learn basic skill knowledge of pharmacy terms, prescription reading, medical terminology, drug delivery systems, intravenous therapy and aseptic technician preparation, chemotherapy awareness, dose, calculations, dosage forms, pharmacy law and inventory control with the Pharmacy Technician I diploma course. Classes begin 8-11:30 a.m. Feb. 16 at LCCC’s Donley Center, Allentown.
The focus of the Pharmacy Technician II certificate is to familiarize students with intravenous compounding such as clean room protocol, aseptic technique, operational theory and regulatory compliance. Students must have completed a Pharmacy Technician I course or have experience as a pharmacy technician. Class begins 8-11:30 a.m. June 7 at LCCC Allentown.
In addition, for individuals with prior pharmacy technician experience or training and who want to increase their technical knowledge with a goal of taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification exam, a Pharmacy Technician Review and Calculations class is offered. Topics include calculations, test-taking tips and strategies, pharmacy law and practice, sterile and non-sterile compounding, medication safety, inventory management and quality assurance. Class begins 6:30-9 p.m. Feb. 17 at main campus in Schnecksville.
