“Walk-In Wednesdays” continue

WILDLANDS CONSERVANCY

Snowshoeing, bird banding and a story time are among offerings this month at Wildlands Conservancy, Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, Emmaus.

The event “Snowshoe with Your Sweetheart” is scheduled 6 p.m. Feb. 13.

Wildlands Conservancy provides the snowshoes and participants tour the conservancy at night. Light refreshments will be served. There is a cost.

The monthly “You & Me: Story Time” program is scheduled 10 a.m. Feb. 18 in the Air Products Environmental Education Center on the conservancy campus.

Visitors will listen to a reading of “The Mitten,” a Ukrainian folktale about a boy who loses a mitten in the snow, before bringing the story to life with a mitten search and live animal presentation. There is a cost.

The program “Get Out! Lehigh Valley” will feature an owl prowl. Visitors will meet 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20 and follow trails along the Little Lehigh Creek and through the conservancy grounds, passing near ponds and through open fields and forests in search of nesting owls. Light refreshments will follow the hike.

The program is presented in partnership with the Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Songbird banding meets 10 a.m. Feb. 14 and continues Sundays. The program is limited to 15 people. There is a cost and registration is required.

SWAIN SCHOOL

“Walk-In Wednesdays” continue at The Swain School, 1100 S. 24th St., Salisbury Township, through February.

Visitors are welcome to drop in for a visit and tour of the school 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 10, 17 and 24.

Appointments are not needed for the “Walk-in Wednesday” visits, however, other school tours are by appointment.

PENN STATE

Penn State Lehigh Valley will offer a comprehensive SAT review course taught by Penn State instructors to help prepare test takers for the SAT exam.

The eight-day review course will be held 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays March 5 through April 30 at the Penn State Lehigh Valley campus, Center Valley.

There is a course fee.

Participants can develop effective critical reading and writing strategies, review essential mathematical skills and concepts and practice test-taking techniques. Students also will receive instructional help and feedback about concepts covered.

H&R BLOCK

H&R Block, 1328 Chestnut St., Emmaus, is sponsoring a food drive through Feb. 13 to benefit the Emmaus community. All donations will be taken to the food bank at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus.

Donations will be accepted at H&R Block 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
