Good Neighbor Coalition making progress in U. Mac

Upper Macungie Township police have initiated a project several years in the making.

The Good Neighbor Coalition made its debut with local businesses and officials and they are moving it forward.

The GNC was developed by the department to improve and maintain a good relationship between commercial businesses, residents and the trucking industry in the township.

The No. 1 goal of the organization will be to improve safety for all involved.

This collaborative program will work toward improving areas such as: safe residential traffic integration with commercial motor vehicles, resident frustration and property damage by commercial vehicles, effective inspection/enforcement and outreach.

In addition to the goal of establishing good relations, they want to create the safest and most efficient scenarios to improve the movement of commerce as well as the quality of life for township residents and commuters.

Police will be making a presentation of the Good Neighbor Coalition to the residents and any interested residents of neighboring municipalities at 6 p.m. on March 2 in the gymnasium of Fred Jaindl Elementary School, 1051 Weilers Road, Breinigsville.

Anyone interested in attending this presentation, is asked to respond by Feb. 26 to Keri L. Diehl, police department office manager, at 484-661-5911 or kdiehl@uppermac-pd.org.
