Area churches offering Lenten services, soup meals

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8227 Hamilton Blvd., Breinigsville, Lenten worship services with the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion will be offered at 10:30 a.m. and at 7 p.m. Feb. 18.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, will have Lenten services 7 p.m. Tuesdays from Feb. 16 through March 15.

Each Lenten service will include a meditative evening prayer and skit.

Ziegels Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, is having a soup sale until Feb. 14.

Order a pint or quart of chicken noodle, chili, vegetable beef, and cream of broccoli with cheese.

Pick up is Feb. 21 during the fellowship hour or after the late service.

Proceeds will benefit Our Churches Wider Mission.

Wednesday evening Lenten services will be Feb. 17 and 24 and March 2, 9, 16 and 23.

Each service will begin with a soup meal at 6 p.m., followed by watching NOOMA videos and discussion.

The Relay for Life Team of Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, will have a brunch immediately after the worship service Feb. 14 to help raise funds for this year’s event.

The brunch includes breakfast and lunch items and yummy desserts.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mid-week Lenten services will be 7:30 p.m. with a soup supper at 6:30 p.m. starting on Feb. 17.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is offering toddler storytime with stories, songs and games for children 18 months to 3 years old and their caregivers 10:30 a.m. Feb. 17.

Drop-In storytime with stories, songs and games for families with children of all ages will be offered 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 12.

Preschool storytime for children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers will be 1 p.m. Feb. 17.

Dress in pajamas and bring a cuddly friend to hear nighttime stories at the library’s sleepy storytime 6 p.m. Feb. 16.

Join the library staff for their brown bag lunch and classic movie “It Happened One Night” 1 p.m. Feb. 15.

Bring lunch and the library will provide the beverages.

Book Quest will meet to discuss the novel “Down to the Crossroads” by Aram Goudsouzian 7-8 p.m. Feb. 16.

All these events are free and will be held at the library.

Upper Macungie Township is offering a resume workshop between 9:30-11 a.m. Feb. 6 at Independent Park, 150 Independent Park.

For a small fee Jenelle Henry MEd., a seasoned career development professional, will assist you with creating the perfect resume and cover letter and with the latest trends in job searches on social media and search sites.

Pick-up volleyball with organizer Rich Kiser continues 8-10 p.m. Tuesdays until March 29 at Fogelsville Elementary School, 312 S. Route 100, Breinigsville.

All skill levels are welcome.
