LCTI students win top prizes at regional FBLA competition

Lehigh Career and Technical Institute students recently qualified for the Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America 2016 State Leadership Conference during its regional contest at Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville.

Students from the administrative office technology and accounting, computer and networking technology and web design and programming programs scored top three finishes in eight categories at the Region 28 Leadership Conference to secure berths in the state event, April 11 to 13, in Hershey.

Computer and networking technology student qualifiers included: Corey Barats, first place, computer problem solving; Chris Droney, second place, cyber security; Akeem Mohammed, second place, network design, all Parkland High School, Garett Stinnard and Tyler Shupp, Northwestern Lehigh High School, second place, network design, and Joshua Medvedz, Parkland High School, second place, networking concepts.

The web design and programming student qualifiers included: Francheska Santiago, Northwestern Lehigh, second place, graphics design.

Other students who competed were Brandon Durrick, Emmaus High School; Dalton Marks and Isaac Tavarez, Catasauqua; Matt Hammerstone, Southern Lehigh; Griffin Wampole, Whitehall; and Zachary Schreffler, William Allen.

Future Business Leaders of America- Phi Beta Lambda, is one of seven Career and Technical Student Organizations at LCTI.

Administrative Office Technology and Accounting instructor Elaine Beam serves as the chapter advisor.
