New Life Church youth group hosting breakfast and movie

The Senior High Youth Group at New Life Church, 6804 Weiss Road, New Tripoli, will host an all-day breakfast with fun family activities 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 30.

There will be a free movie showing of “The War Room” at 7 p.m. and bingo with prizes at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The free-will offering for breakfast will support the youth group’s trip to Virginia Beach.

Both events are open to the public.

Jacob’s Church, Route 143, Jacksonville, Lynn Township, is hosting a Wing Night from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 6.

Meals include wings or boneless wings, fresh cut fries, celery with blue cheese or Ranch dressing, dessert and birch beer.

They are also selling fastnachts that day.

To preorder, call Ruth Kaley at 610-562-7406 before Feb. 5.

One dozen doughnuts, two dozen doughnut holes, a half-dozen doughnuts or one dozen doughnut holes in plain or brown sugar/cinnamon are available. Pick-up is 2-3 p.m. Feb. 6.

Ebenezer UCC, New Tripoli, will host Souper Bowl II from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

Come and get a free taste of some of the best soups in the township.

A prize will be awarded for the soup voted best.

Goodwill donations are appreciated and will be used for Christian education activities and events.

Lent suppers and services will be each Wednesday in Lent, from Feb. 17 through March 16.

Dinner will be available 6-6:30 p.m. in fellowship hall.

Services will follow dinner and last until 7:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided for infants up to preschoolers.

Christ’s Kids Elementary Youth Group will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. each Wednesday, as well. All are welcome to attend.

There will be a movie night 6-8:30 p.m. Feb. 28.

All are invited to watch “E.T.” on the big screen. Snacks are provided. The event is free and open to the community.

Ebenezer’s clothing closet will be open from 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 11 and from 10 a.m.-noon on Feb. 13.

Jan. 28 would have been my Dad’s 86th birthday. I miss him every day.

An anchor, support system and critique partner extraordinaire, he was ahead of his time insisting all five of his daughters receive a college education.
