Lynn board readies for new year

Lynn Township supervisors met Jan. 4 to reorganize for the upcoming year.

Board member Steve Feinour was absent.

Justin Smith was selected chairman and Brian Dietrich will serve a vice chairman.

Tammy White was reappointed as township secretary/treasurer with Kathy Hermany serving as assistant secretary/treasurer.

Marc Fisher, of Worth Magee and Fisher Law Offices, was selected to represent the board as solicitor.

John Stover Jr. was appointed as conflict council.

Keystone Consulting Engineering, represented by Chris Noll, will be the township’s engineer and zoning officer.

Monthly meeting dates were again set for the second Thursday of the month.

The road report, given by Roadmaster Bruce Raber, showed a continuation on prior projects, including working on the mountain roads filling potholes and tree trimming. Also on the schedule are boom mowing and possibly some cold patching.

The board approved appointments to various committees and boards.

John Bailey was reappointed to the planning commission. Robert Bartholomew was again named to the zoning hearing board and Nicholas Sham was designated alternate.

Greg Snyder was named to the building code appeals board.

The environmental advisory committee has several vacancies which need to be filled. No applications were received by the board for these positions.

Robert Sadler was appointed to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Robert Hamm as township auditor.

He will be required to run in the 2017 election to complete the entire term.

Scott Bieber, Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, was reappointed Sewage Enforcement Officer with Chris Noll as alternate SEO .

The building, plumbing and electrical inspections will be handled by either Barry Isett, Blue Mountain or Keller Zoning depending on selection by the applicant. The building code official will be Kathy Hermany, with Ann Lett as alternate B.C.O.

Kevin Baer will be the emergency management coordinator with Josh Bingham named deputy coordinator.

Bruce Raber returns as roadmaster with Joseph Wisser assistant roadmaster.

The three supervisors, along with Kathy Hermany, Tammy White and Bruce Raber, are approved to attend the annual township convention. Berkheimer and Associates will be the EIT collector for the township.

Smith will be representative to the Northwestern Recreation Commission while Dietrich will be attending the Agricultural Land Preservation Commission meetings.

Feinour will represent the Board at the Jordan Creek Water Shed Committee and Crime Watch Committee meetings.

He will also serve as representative on the Emergency Services Steering Committee.

Smith will represent the township on the six-township council of governments, with Kermit Delong as vacancy board member.

The board authorized Raber to have several areas in Ontelaunee Park paved in the upcoming year.

Estimated cost is $26,208.

Employee wages were set for the year as was mileage reimbursement.

Holidays for the year will be New Year’s Day and a half-day preceding New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, Christmas Day and a half-day day prior to Christmas and the day after Christmas.
