LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Student of the Week

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am in the 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is chemistry. I find the topic both interesting and challenging which is my favorite combination.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I was the Rensselaer Medalist for my class. This award insures me a $25,000 scholarship if I choose to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the future. I have also achieved academic excellence awards for my GPA every year. In addition, I have consistently been on the principal’s honor roll each marking period.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: This year I am a member of National Honor Society and the Outdoor Adventure Club. I also play softball for the high school and have a job.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: My next goal after high school is to earn my master’s degree in chemical engineering with a minor in nuclear engineering.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge so far has been being able to juggle school, sports, work, my family and my social life.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I want to be remembered for being a dedicated student, friend and teammate. I also hope to be remembered for not being afraid to speak my mind and share my opinion.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: I live with my stepfather Justin, my mom Jennifer, my sister Jasmine and my half-sister Juliana. We have four birds named Molly, Peachy, Buddy and Boo.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I look up to my parents. They have been there to support me no matter how big or small the occasion. Without them, I would not have been able to experience places such as Europe or to continue my athletic pursuits.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My advice to my peers would be to make sure you can handle everything that you decide to take on. High school is going to be hard at times but it is important to stay true to who you are and to never lose sight of what you hope to accomplish. Also, get involved. Whether it is joining clubs or going to sporting events, it is a great way to make memories and show your “Hornet Pride.”
