Lowhill hires former Heidelberg worker

Lowhill Township supervisors’ Chairman Rick Hughes made a motion at the board’s Jan. 7 meeting to hire Erik Lynch as a full-time employee with benefits following a 120-day trial period.

The motion was unanimously approved by the board.

Lynch was terminated, by a vote of 2-1, during the Heidelberg Township Jan. 4 reorganization meeting.

In other matters, two executive sessions were held by Lowhill supervisors prior to the Jan. 7 meeting to discuss employee issues.

Supervisors also approved minutes from the Dec. 3, 2015, meeting and the motions made at the Jan. 4 reorganization meeting.

The Lillian M. Rupp Estate major two-lot plan was conditionally approved pending final verbiage on the plans of a single driveway, which will need to be converted to two driveways, if either of the properties were to be sold outside the family.

In other matters, the board discussed letters sent to the developer of Aspen Court, Lowhill Associates, L.P.

At issue is the winter maintenance of the road leading up to and including Aspen Court, which is not yet a dedicated road and therefore is not the responsibility of the township.

Lowhill Township has not been paid for its snow removal services last year and the road is not up to specifications.

The township has not received a response from the builder.

After discussion, the board decided the township would provide winter maintenance for the safety of its residents, but will actively seek to contact the developer and the bank holding the letter of credit.

“We are going to provide winter maintenance even though it is not our road,” said Administrator Brian Carl, “Unfortunately, the developer, Lowhill Associates L.P., really has not been getting back in touch with us.”

In other road matters, repairs will begin on the Narris Road Bridge.

“We are going to start making a repair on the Narris Bridge and if weather permits us, we are going to continue to repair it,” said Road Foreman Joe Kalusky. “The bridge just has a temporary 5-ton weight limit on it, but as long as we are proceeding with repairs, it will remain open.”
