DeVault re-elected chairman

At a brief reorganization meeting Jan. 4, Upper Milford Township Supervisors re-elected George DeVault chairman. Daniel Mohr was named vice chairman. DeVault, the newest member of the board, had served as chairman during 2015.

DeVault was nominated by Supervisor Robert Sentner, who had volunteered to be temporary chairman during the process of electing officers.

After DeVault resumed the chairmanship, supervisors made the following appointments: reappointing Sentner and Scott Bieber to the open space committee, with their terms expiring the first Monday of 2019; reappointing Thomas Roland to the zoning hearing board, a term to expire Dec. 31, 2020; reappointing Robert Parry to the recreation commission, for a term to expire Dec. 31, 2020; appointing John Hayes to the vacancy board for the prescribed annual term; and reappointing William Ahlert to the Emmaus/Upper Milford Joint Environmental Advisory Council, for a term to expire the first Monday of 2019.

Several consultants were also reappointed, wages of township officials were set and administrative, zoning and building permit fee schedules set.

Supervisors also approved the purchase of a new three-quarter ton pickup truck for $23,205. The truck replaces a 1999 truck.

In response to a question from Sentner, Township Manager Daniel DeLong said the truck is two-wheel rather than four-wheel drive because it will be used mostly in warm weather and four-wheel vehicles are more expensive to operate and maintain.
