Board reorganizes, chooses president and vice president

At the Jan. 4 reorganizaton meeting of the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners, James A. Brown was re-elected president of the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners.

Robert Martucci Jr. was elected vice president of the board, succeeding Debra Brinton. Martucci was vice president prior to Brinton holding the office.

Brown was chosen president by a 3-2 vote over Brinton. Martucci, Brown and Commissioner James Seagreaves voted for Brown. Brinton and Commissioner Joanne Ackerman voted for Brinton. Ackerman nominated Brinton for president. Martucci nominated Brown.

Martucci was chosen vice president by a 3-2 vote over Brinton. Brown, Martucci and Seagreaves voted for Martucci. Brinton and Ackerman voted for Brinton. Ackerman nominated Brinton for vice president. Brown nominated Martucci.

Brinton was chosen president pro tempore (to serve in the absence of the president) by a 5-0 vote. Brown nominated Brinton.

District Judge Michael J. Pochron administered oaths of office to commissioners Ackerman, Brinton and Martucci, re-elected to four-year terms in the November general election.

Commissioners voted 5-0 to reappoint Township Manager Randy Soriano, who has been on medical leave, township secretary, and Township Assistant Manager-Director of Finance and Acting Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich, assistant township secretary.

Commissioners voted 5-0 to reappoint Linda Minger township treasurer and Bonaskiewich township assistant treasurer.

At the Jan. 4 reorganization meeting, commissioners voted unanimously 5-0 to reappoint Atty. John W. Ashley of Davison & McCarthy P.C., as township solicitor and David J. Tettemer of Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc., as township consulting engineer.

Other appointments, also by 5-0 votes, included:

Hanover Engineering Associates, Inc., alternate township engineer;

Scott Bieber, sewage enforcement officer, and Hanover, alternate, and

Todd J. Bushta, Bushta & Company LLC, auditor.

Appointments to township boards were made, also by 5-0 votes:

Planning Commission, four-year term: Charles Beck, Stephen J. McKitish, Jr.;

Zoning Hearng Board, five-year term: Ronald Evans;

Vacancy Board, one-year term: Dan Moyer;

Environmental Advisory Council, three-year term: Karen M. El-Chaar, Rodney Conn;

Recreation Advisory Committee, five-year term: Frank Adamcik, Mark Wilson, and

Building Code Board of Appeals, five-year term: John Hoffman.

There is an additional vacancy on the Building Code Board of Appeals. An appointee is being sought.

No appointment was made for a six-year term on the Civil Service Commission. There’s a vacancy. An appointee is being sought.

In other business at the meeting, commissioners voted to approve the bills payable for Dec. 12, 2015, through Jan. 4.

The reorganization meeting, by law, must be held the first week of the year following an election.

Township commissioners next meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 14 and 28.
