Pork, sauerkraut on menu Jan. 1 at Heidelberg Church

Spread the word! Heidelberg Union Church is having a pork and sauerkraut dinner Jan. 1, 2016, in fellowship hall. The public is invited.

Limited seating times are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

In addition to delicious pork and sauerkraut, the meal includes applesauce, bread, beverage and homemade desserts.

If inclement weather results in the need to cancel worship services or Sunday School at Heidelberg Church, tune in to radio station WAEB 790 AM or WFMZ TV 69.

Plan ahead! On Jan. 5, 2016, Heidelberg Association for Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P., will meet 11 a.m. in fellowship hall of Heidelberg Church. All retirees from the community are welcome.

Why not come in from the cold and enjoy a warm and relaxing afternoon of game playing.

In addition to a covered dish to share, bring your favorite board game, cards or anything you would like to play.

Labor of love! Requests for donations of any kind of chocolate desserts are being sought Jan. 11, 2016, for the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

Baked goods may be dropped off 6-7 p.m. in Heidelberg Church’s Fellowship Hall.

According to soup kitchen Assistant Coordinator Linda Hausamann, 175 hot meals were served recently to the hungry and homeless at the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

The meal consisted of barbecue chicken, potatoes, garden salad, applesauce and cookies for dessert provided by faithful Heidelberg bakers.

Special thanks to the volunteers of the day: Pastor David Hess, Shirley Boger, Doris and Richard Koenig, Eleanor and Ron Klevenhagen, Michael Koenig, Linda Hausamann and Howard Truitt.
