The Penn Northeast Conference of the United Church of Christ, consisting of 131 church congregations, has entered into a relationship with the Ecumenical Christian Council of Guatemala.
Local UCC members traveled to Guatemala to evaluate what can be done through a collaborative ministry.
The village of Monte Margarita has requested help to build a multi-purpose facility with medical clinic and space for educational and community activities.
The conference has raised more than half of the $105,000 needed.
Obtaining safe, clean water for the building is a big expense, as the ground water is polluted.
St. John’s United Church of Christ, Laurys Station, and Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, have made a special effort to collect contributions during Advent for the facility at Monte Margarita.
