Harhart to Retire From State Legislature

State Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd, has announced her 11th term in office, which will end with the 2015-16 session, will be her final one as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

“It has been an honor and privilege to represent the residents of the 183rd District in the state House,” Harhart said. “In doing so, I have made many friends, both in the General Assembly and the surrounding community, that I will miss tremendously. They have helped to make public service, while challenging, one of the most satisfying experiences of my life.”

Harhart was first elected to office in 1994. During her legislative career, she has been a member of numerous committees, including serving as majority chairman of the House Professional Licensure Committee since 2013.

“Like any demanding undertaking, being an effective member of the General Assembly cannot be successfully accomplished unless you surround yourself with talented people,” added Harhart. “I would like to thank the many staff members who have worked for me and are often the ‘face’ of the office while interacting with constituents. I could not have done this without them.”

Harhart’s term will officially end on Nov. 30, 2016.
