Washington Twp 2016 budget passes with no tax increase

Washington Township supervisors passed the 2016 budget Dec. 1 with no changes from what had been advertised in November.

The tax remains at .3 mills as it has been for several years.

Seventy-four per capita tax exonerations were approved for resident who had died or moved during the year.

There was also one real estate tax exemption for a disabled veteran that had been approved by the Lehigh County board of appeals.

The township also approved the request.

A letter of thanks was received from Meals on Wheels for a $50 donation from the township.

The Sanctuary at Haffsville was approved for the animal control organization.

Secretary JoAnn Ahner said they find homes for all the animals.

The agreement cost, which includes a feral cat program, is $600.

The final plan for the At Home Parkland campus, which also has land in North Whitehall, was approved contingent on township engineer comments.
