‘WHO’s ready for Christmas?’

Lower Macungie Library invites children in grades three to five to a “WHO’s Ready for Christmas?” event 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19. There will be a reading of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and some “Whoville” fun.

The library will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, will close 2 p.m. Dec. 31 and be closed Jan. 1, 2016.

Book Swap Bingo for students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be offered 1:30 p.m. Dec. 28. Students should bring a gently used book for the prize table and will play bingo to win a new-to-you book. A snack will be provided. Registration is limited.

Come celebrate Happy Noon Year 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 31 with games, stories, crafts and a countdown to “12”. This event was planned by the teen advisory board and is for families with young children.

The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. Jan. 6, 2016 to discuss “Empty Mansions” by Bill Dedman and Paul Newell. The next meeting is Feb. 3, 2016.

Creation station is in the children’s area and offers supplies for a special craft or activity as well as books with ideas that support the monthly theme. The next creation station is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 9, 2016.

Messy Mondays is a new family storytime and craft program at the library. The storytime is designed for the preschool skill level but the activities are designed for the whole family to work together. The next program is 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Jan. 4, 2016.

Adult computer classes are offered monthly. The schedule is available at the library.

The Friends of the Library wish to extend a huge thank you for all who supported the November book sale. The next sale will be May 2016. The library will start accepting book donations Jan. 4, 2016.

The next Friends of the Library meeting will be 10 a.m. Jan. 16, 2016 in the library. Business items include voting on a new slate of officers.

Lower Macungie Township will hold a Miller-Keystone Blood Drive 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 26, 2016 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. To schedule an appointment time, call 610-966-6924.

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens meet noon Jan. 5 and 19, 2016 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.

The community center offers a number of activities. An organization class will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 12, 2016.

An SAT practice test for the new SAT will be offered 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 16, 2016. The registration deadline is Jan. 8, 2016.

A safe sitter program will be offered 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 23, 2016.

Yard waste site hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Be prepared to show your photo identification as proof of residency.
