Steps4Stellar receives Wells Fargo grant

Steps4Stellar was recently presented a check for $1,000 from Wells Fargo 2015 Community Connections Program.

Each of the Wells Fargo retail banking stores explores the needs of their local communities and selects a nonprofit organization or school to receive a $1,000 grant.

“At Wells Fargo, we know that small acts can yield huge results and we are committed to supporting programs and organizations that we believe are important to the future of our communities’ vitality and success,” said Johanna Lopez, Wells Fargo Store Manager who nominated Steps4Stellar. “So we are proud to support Steps4Stellar with this grant.”

In memory of Debbie Stellar and all women who have lost their battle to ovarian cancer, an education scholarship has been established in Debbie’s name.

This scholarship helps student athlete’s whose family suffers from cancer fulfill their dream of a college education.

“This year, we celebrated our fifth year for the Steps4Stellar 5K Run/Walk,” said Dana Stellar Holmes, Steps4Stellar program director. “After having five successful years, we have been able to provide 16 students with scholarships totaling over $50,000.

“All scholarships are given to local students in the Lehigh Valley, many who went to Northwestern Lehigh, my alma mater. I am very proud to be able to say that,” Holmes stated. “I could not have done this without my wonderful family, our amazing volunteer team, all of the race participants, and most importantly, our sponsors. We want to thank Wells Fargo for this very appreciated grant.”

“Don’t forget to visit Steps4Stellar.com to make a donation,” Holmes said. “And it’s never too early to start training for next year’s 5K on July 9, 2016 at Allentown’s Cedar Beach Park.”
