An 18-year-old Schnecksville teen was killed when the car he was driving struck a tree around 10:50 p.m. Dec. 13 along Route 873, Washington Township.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Brenton R. Wieland, of 3820 Washington St., Schnecksville, was pronounced dead by Lehigh County First Deputy Coroner Eric Minnich at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the scene of the crash.

Grim said the cause of Wieland’s death is attributed to multiple blunt force injuries.

He ruled the manner of his death an accident.

According to State Police Troop M Bethlehem, Wieland was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier south on Route 873 in the area of Glencrest Road, when his car entered the west shoulder after he apparently lost control of his vehicle.

His car then entered the northbound lane continuing over the eastern side of the road striking the tree, police say.
