Upper Macungie Twp Police

Upper Macungie Township police say Dylan R. Haas, 23, of Kempton, was driving a 2007 Sterling tractor-trailer combo when it was hit by a 2004 MINI Cooper driven by Joshua P. MacGown, 30, of Macungie, at 2:20 p.m. Nov. 24 on Route 100, Upper Macungie Township.

According to police, the tractor-trailer was southbound on Route 100 and in the process of making a left turn onto Penn Drive as the light turned from yellow to red when the MINI Cooper, traveling northbound in the far left straight lane allegedly went through the red light and struck the truck in the intersection.

MacGown, who was wearing his seat belt, sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Haas, who was also wearing his seat belt, was uninjured, police say.

The tractor-trailer, which sustained moderate damage to its left front bumper, was driven away from the scene.

The MINI Cooper sustained severe damage to its left side and was towed from the scene by Hauser’s Truck Service.

MacGown was charged with running a red light and driving while operating privileges were suspended or revoked, police say.
