Christmas Handbell Fest Dec. 6 at Heidelberg Union Church

Merry ’n’ meaningful! As part of its 275 anniversary celebration, Heidelberg Union Church will have a Christmas Handbell Festival 11 a.m. Dec. 6.

All are invited to come together for a special time of worship as the Concert Handbell Choir presents a unique arrangement of familiar Christmas carols.

Come share in the joy of the season and spirit of Advent through scripture, song and word.

Immediately following the service there will be a bake sale and hot dog lunch served to benefit the church’s Faith Formation Sunday School program.

Reservations are not required.

Anyone wishing to donate baked goods may contact Melanie Fink at 610-207-8283 or melbelle215@yahoo.com.

Heidelberg Women on Faith group will also have a Nativity display once again at Heidelberg Church for all to enjoy Dec. 6, before and after the church service.

The public is also welcome to come to Heidelberg Church to see and enjoy an old-fashioned Sunday School Christmas program 11 a.m. Dec. 13.

Joyful giving! Requests for donations of Christmas cookies are being sought Dec. 8 for the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

Baked goods may be dropped off 6-7 p.m. in Heidelberg Church’s Fellowship Hall.

According to soup kitchen Assistant Coordinator Linda Hausamann, 170 hot meals were served recently to the hungry and homeless at the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

The meal included barbecued chicken, french fries, garden salad, pears, rolls, plus delicious pumpkin pies and desserts provided by many faithful Heidelberg bakers.

Special thanks to the volunteers of the day: Doris and Richard Koenig, Julia and Arlan Hill, Shirley Boger, Linda Hausamann and Howard Truitt.

To find out more about helping at the soup kitchen, call Linda at 610-767-5281 or Howard at 610-682-4831.
