Erwin “Reds” L. Decker, 90, of Catasauqua, died Nov. 19, 2015, at his home. He was the husband of Dolores (Novich) Decker for 66 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John and Stella (Artopher) Decker.
He was a 1943 graduate of Allentown High School. He earned a bachelor and master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Lehigh University.
He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was a registered professional engineer and held several patents. He worked for the former Fuller Company, now FL Smidth, for 41 years and was a vice-president of engineering, GLW products, international and operations departments.
He was a board member of Lehigh County Community College. He was a member of the Lappawinzo Rod and Gun Club, Lehigh Country Club, Cotillion and MSA dance clubs. He was a director of Catasauqua National Bank. He worked with many Catasauqua civic organizations, including the planning commission, zoning board, school advisory committee, school director, United Way fund, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Explorer Post Scout Troop and the YMCA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Barbara of Orefield, Maryann and her husband Roger Muschlitz of Danielsville, and Margaret of Malvern; and five grandchildren, Evan, Eric, Blaine, Lauren and Allison.
He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
