The proposed pathway from Harvest Fields to Hamilton Boulevard is one step closer to being constructed as the bid was accepted at the Nov. 5 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting.
There were seven bids for this project ranging in price from $150,000 to $199,000. The bid was awarded to Livengood Excavator’s. Inc. for $150,303.
Denise Foulke, director of recreation, recognized the ladies auxiliary of the Lower Macungie Fire Department’s donation to the Troop Support Program. A gift of $500 was received for the troop care package program.
The Spring Creek Road construction project was extended until Nov. 20. A portion will re-open sooner.
The project for the bridge reconstruction at Church Lane has been experiencing administrative delays. The construction should finally begin next week.
Mike Segal was appointed to the Environmental Advisory Council. His term is to expire Jan. 1, 2017.
Donna Conklin was hired as the township’s assistant finance director. It was said she has an impressive background and will be a welcome asset to the township.
There was a discussion on the need for basketball hoops to be turned away from the road when not in use.
A reminder was given to residents about parking during snowstorms. Residents should not park along roadways during snowstorms and it was noted the township will enforce this law this winter. There will be parking available for township residents.
Landscaping and sidewalk installation are occurring by the Wescosville Recreation Center and log cabin site.
The shredding event sponsored by State Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, was a great success. Over 6.85 tons of shredding took place.
It was announced an electronic recycling program will be held in the near future, perhaps in partnership with Upper Macungie Township.
