“Boogie Woogie Flu”: The legendary Johnny Rivers performs 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13, State Theatre for the Arts, Easton. Rivers (born John Henry Ramistella), above, notched nine Top 10 hits on the Billboard Top 100 and 17 in the Top 40 from 1964 to 1977. Record producer Lou Adler released “Johnny Rivers Live At The Whisky A Go Go,” recorded at a popular West Hollywood nightclub, which reached No. 12. His “go-go rock” gave the Grammy Award winner a steady stream of Top 10 records, including “Memphis,” “Mountain Of Love,” “The Seventh Son,” “Secret Agent Man” (No. 3 in 1966), “Poor Side Of Town” (a No. 1 hit), “Midnight Special,” “Baby I Need Your Lovin,’” “Summer Rain.” (charting at No. 14 In 1968) and “Rockin’ Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu” (No. 6 in 1972). Rivers’ last Top 10 hit was his 1977 recording of “Swayin’ to the Music (Slow Dancing).” He has sold more than 30 million records. Bollywood Easton: The Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India present “The Spirit Of India,” 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14, State Theatre for the Arts, Easton. The extravaganza is billed as “a new step toward a bold vision in Indian live music and dance being presented to the world for the first time.” Rahis Bharti, regarded as one of India’s greatest music figures, and the Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India promise the audience “a lively musical journey from Rajasthan to Mumbai.” Bharti has traveled the world performing and has made each prestigious festival, concert hall or theater into a lavish and courtly stage of his own imagining. With 17 professional artists onstage, the performance includes a mix of Indian and Western instruments such as bass drums, side drums, trombone, tabla, dholak, harmonium and clarinet, combining traditional and contemporary music and with mesmerizing rhythms and colorful costumes. Schadt winner: The Allentown Symphony Orchestra concerts, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 3 p.m. Nov. 15, Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown, feature the winner of the National Schadt String Competition, sponsored by the Allentown Symphony Association. Violinist, Zeyu Victor Li, 18, above, is the youngest ever to win the Schadt Competition. He will perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto. The concert includes the world premiere of Roberto Sierra’s “Rapsódico”; a strings-only piece, “Strut,” by Michael Daugherty, and Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
