Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas Judge Maria Dantos heard testimony before a packed courtroom Oct. 29 in the decertification hearing for Jamie Lynn Silvonek, arrested at age 14.
Silvonek, who has been held in Lehigh County Prison since March, was charged as an adult for allegedly plotting with her boyfriend Caleb Barnes, then 20, to kill her mother, Cheryl.
The defense is requesting Silvonek’s case be sent to juvenile court.
Dr. Frank Datilio, an expert clinical and forensic psychologist, testified it was his professional opinion Silvonek, whom he described as “bright and motivated,” was amenable to rehabilitation provided within the juvenile detention system.
The prosecution presented expert forensic psychiatrist Dr. John O’Brien who argued Silvonek was not amenable to such treatment.
Other testimony included the forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy on Cheryl Silvonek, a Lehigh County juvenile intake officer, two corrections officers, one of Jamie Silvonek’s former teachers and a former co-worker of Cheryl Silvonek.
Completion of the decertification hearing is scheduled for this morning.
