Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund provides AmTryke for Fleetwood toddler

The Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund joined forces with Lehigh Valley Steelforce Chapter of AMBUCS and Whitetail Golf Course to make a huge difference for young Simon of Fleetwood.

Whitetail Golf Course provided the setting for a group of community minded golfers to have a fun outing and raise money to purchase an AmTryke for Simon, a youngster with special needs.

The golfers, golf courses and sponsors come together under the name of the “Krysta Cares Flight Club” and have created the “Courses that Care, Miles that Matter” program.

Krysta, 22, a Northwestern Lehigh graduate, collapsed while exercising in a gym in New York City in September 2007, and died a few days later.

She was the daughter of Bill and Chris Hankee.

In four years, more than a half-million miles of driving has been generated for families facing high costs related to ongoing medical travel.

Proceeds from this event, however, were directed to a new tryke for young Simon.

Volunteers and golfers were on hand from the Lehigh Valley Steel Force Chapter of AMBUCS. a nationwide charity that makes therapeutic tricycles available to people with disabilities.

AMBUCS now has more than 5,000 members in more than 140 chapters in over 30 states.

Lehigh Valley Steel Force Chapter of AMBUCS is member chapter working on a grassroots level to fulfill the grand mission of creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.

Local chapters fundraise for and give away about 3,000 Amtrykes each year.
