New personal care home makes residents feel At Home

Nestled on 40 acres of land in Schnecksville is a new personal care home, called At Home at Parkland.

The personal care home at 4315 Washington St., part of At Home Inc., offers its residents a community setting with the warm and comfortable feel of home.

At Home Inc. was created in 2005 by Patrick Stonich and Joseph Motto after they discussed home care issues when their dads became ill, Motto said.

In addition to the personal care home, which can serve 43 residents, At Home Inc., offers nursing, therapy, aides, and palliative, hospice and home care.

The personal care home, which has a staff of 42, currently cares for 23 residents, Motto said.

“The current age of our residents is between 68 and 93,” Stonich said.

“The home offers a small community feel to allow for more independence and more attention to each resident.

“Fees are based on room you pick, not level of care. A flat rate that is all inclusive. “The fee stays the same each year, even if your needs increase.”

Stonich said an expansion is planned in 2016 to include inpatient hospice, memory care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term acute care.

“The total bed count will be 134,” he said.

Resident Dorothy Rabert and her sister Ruth Ensley spoke with The Press about the personal care home.

“I moved here on March 28 and got decorate my own room,” Rabert said. “The staff is pleasant and treats me well.”

“I feel very blessed I found this place,” Ensley said. “It is like home and has a good staff. They make you feel welcome.”
