Supervisor Brian Dietrich told fellow board members he and his wife attended the recent Lehigh Valley Planning Commission dinner.

At this event, he accepted, on behalf of Lynn Township, an award for Multi-municipal Cooperation.

Lynn, along with Heidelberg, Lowhill and Weisenberg townships, received this award as a tribute to their continued cooperation in the Northwestern Lehigh area.

In other matters, Engineer Chris Noll informed the board the New Tripoli Fire Company land development plan was ready for approval, which the board proceeded to do.

The New Tripoli Fire Company report noted there were 112 calls so far this year.

Fire Chief Peter Christ notified supervisors the cost to have emergency classes for 11 volunteers would be $5,335.

The fire company annual turkey drawing is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Nov. 21.

Lucky ticket holders have a chance to win one of 35 turkeys.

Lynnport Fire Chief Clark Mantz reported volunteers answered three calls in September and one in October so far.

Both fire companies have been busy at local schools and day care centers with presentations for National Fire Prevention Week.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber reported the road crew was busy mowing, grading, working at the recycling center and replacing a pipe on Springhouse Road along with their many other chores.

Next month will be a continuation of some of these projects.

Nelson Tree Trimming cut some problem trees for the township as a “thank you” for allowing the company to park equipment on the township’s lot.

Township Secretary Tammy White presented salt bids for the coming winter.

Applicants were invited to bid on a total of 4,050 tons for a six-township cooperative bid.

Oceanport LLC was the successful bidder with a per ton price of $75.10 delivered and $70 per ton picked up.

Supervisors accepted the bids and with a second motion voted to give the contract to Oceanport with the township’s portion being $18,775 delivered.

The dog park at Ontelaunee Park is almost complete.

Sylvia Gardner said the final tally for the dog park should come under budget.

Quotes were received for two picnic tables and four benches which will be located at the dog park.

George Ely was the low bidder on both items with bids of $3,100 for the benches and $864 each for the tables.

Playground equipment has been delivered and the area has been laid out. Installation will begin shortly.

The Highway Occupancy Permit has been issued by PennDOT and the pond rehabilitation will begin next spring.

The board decided to let the elected auditors audit the township’s books next year. They felt that an outside auditing firm was not needed.

Engineer Chris Noll gave the board the results of the road study on Springhouse Road. His only recommendation was to erect cautionary signs near the problem area.

Codemaster, one of the inspection agencies for the township, notified the board it will not be handling Lynn Township next year.

Trick or Treat Night is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
