Turning Point
Turning Point of Lehigh Valley will hold a free, open to the public vigil of peace, hope and renewal at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at Christ Lutheran Church, 1245 Hamilton St., Allentown. The event, in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, will remember local victims and celebrate the survivors of domestic violence.
The gathering is at 6 p.m., followed by the program at 6:30 p.m., with displays, survivor speakers, a candle lighting, musical performances by the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, the Xcape Dance Studio and a poetry reading by a Cedar Crest College student.
The keynote speaker will be Adrian Shanker, founder and executive director of the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. Bethlehem Township Police Chief Daniel Pancoast will receive a Turning Point commendation. His force is the first in the Lehigh Valley to receive Turning Point training in a new lethality assessment program.
