‘Rhythm of the Rails’ at Lower Macungie Middle School

The Macungie Minstrelaires will present “Rhythm of the Rails” at Lower Macungie Middle School. Show times are 8 p.m. Oct. 23, 24 and Oct. 30 and 31. Matinees are 2 p.m. Oct. 24 and 31. The Lower Lehigh Lions Club will sponsor the annual Macungie Halloween Parade starting 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Main and Buttonwood streets and ending at Macungie Memorial Park. The rain date is Oct. 31.

Macungie Trick or Treat Night is 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

The Macungie Farmers Market will be open 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through October. The final day of the market for the season is Oct. 29. Parking is available at the park parking lot and along North Walnut Street.

Macungie Memorial Park is a self-supporting park and depends on events and donations to keep the pool, playground, grounds, ballfields and bathrooms operable. If you are interested in volunteering to help with upcoming events, contact Amy at 610-966-4289.

Grace Lutheran Church will hold a Harvest Home service 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11 to give thanks. Non-perishable food items will be collected for the area food bank program.

The Church of the Good Shepherd in Alburtis will hold a fall and holiday bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 17. There will be crafts, a white elephant, Chinese auction, bake sale and food.

The Macungie Borough will hold a free electronics recycling day 9 a.m. to noon (or until the trucks are full) Oct. 17 at Macungie Memorial Park. For more information on acceptable items, go to www.macungie.pa.us.

There will be a cruise night Oct. 17 at Macungie Memorial Park. Cars will start arriving 3 p.m.

There will be a Shelby American Automobile Club Show Oct. 18 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Kalmbach Memorial Park will sponsor a community blood drive 2 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21. The blood drive will be held at Macungie Institute. For more information, call 610-965-1140.

There will be a holiday craft bazaar 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at Zion Lehigh Lutheran Church, 8269 Spring Creek Road, Alburtis. There will be crafts, a basket raffle, bake sale and homemade food for eat-in or takeout lunch. Santa will visit 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The majority of the proceeds will benefit wounded soldiers and their families, homeless vets and homeless people in the Lehigh Valley.

The Friends of the Macungie Institute will present a holiday tea noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Macungie Institute. The tea includes tea sandwiches, scones and desserts. The reservation deadline is Nov. 6. For more information, call 610-966-7830.

Bus trips to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs are scheduled Oct. 19 and Nov. 16. Call the park at 610-966-4289 to reserve a seat.

There will be an art display of original works by Joanna Green at the Macungie Institute through October. Green is a member of the Parkland Art League.

Zumba Fitness classes are held 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Macungie Fire Company #1.

Macungie Senior Citizens meet 1 p.m. Oct. 21 and Nov. 4 at the Macungie Fire Company social hall. There will be guest speakers and bingo. New members are always welcome.
