Fees waived expandexpansion on agenda

Salisbury Township application and permit fees have been waived for the Western Salisbury Fire Company’s expansion project.

Township commissioners voted unanimously 5-0 at the Sept. 24 meeting to waive the fees. Commissioner Joanne Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Vice President Debra Brinton.

Western’s project is on the agenda of the Salisbury Township Planning Commission meeting 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the municipal building.

The northwest side building addition at 950 S. Ott St. will provide needed areas for firemen who train for about three hours Monday nights.

A portion of the 4,734-square-feet building is to be demolished with 3,534-square-feet retained and an addition of 1,200 square-feet for a new total of 7,280-square-feet.

Two floors are planned. An overhead door would be installed to allow access to the fire company’s brush truck without having to move other trucks.

The parking lot would be moved from the building’s northwest to southeast side. Parking spaces are to increase from five to 17.

The subdivision and land development fees amount to $715, or $450 for a land development preliminary-final plan application, $125 for a minor subdivision application fee and $50 for a zoning application.

Planners are expected to review Western’s proposed preliminary-final minor lot re-subdivision of land at 950 S. Ott St. that is to be conveyed from The Swain School to the Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.

Planners are also to review the proposed preliminary-final plan of the proposed land development of the fire department.

The Salisbury Township Zoning Hearing Board voted 5-0 vote April 7 to approve the department’s expansion.
