RCN of the Lehigh Valley presented a donation of school supplies during an event Sept. 11 at Gockley Elementary School.
Dr. Mary Fekula, principal of Gockley, said the effort was coordinated by the Whitehall-Coplay School District’s director of curriculum and instruction, Dr. Barbara Chomik. The donation, which included more than 100 notebooks, will be distributed throughout all of the district schools, Fekula said.
During the presention, Superintendent John Corby thanked RCN for the donation.
“RCN of the Lehigh Valley has proudly collected and donated supplies to a school in our community each of the past five years,” said Joanne Guerriero, senior regional director of marketing for RCN.
Items collected this year were given to Allentown, Easton, Northampton and Whitehall-Coplay school districts.
“Children need to be equipped with the tools necessary to learn and succeed,” said Sanford Ames Jr., vice president and general manager for RCN. “Unfortunately, not all families have the ability to provide supplies.
“RCN employees live and work in the Lehigh Valley, too, and happily come together in an annual donation effort,” Ames said.
