Highlights of programs at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., during October include special programming 2 p.m. Oct. 12 in celebration of Columbus Day. Participants will build a giant boat to celebrate exploration. On Oct. 24 Mark Magro will launch his new young adult novel, “Surfacing,” a science fiction adventure perfect for fans of “The Maze Runner” or the video game “Portal” 3 to 5 p.m.
The library staff will have treats for costumed trickers during the borough’s Trick or Treat night, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 29.

The Fun Family Film will be shown 2 p.m. Oct. 10.
The adult movie matinee will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 14.
