Three townships hosting Emergency Preparedness Day

Upper Macungie and South Whitehall and North Whitehall townships are sponsoring Emergency Preparedness Day 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 19 at St. Luke’s West End Medical Center, 501 Cetronia Road, South Whitehall Township.

There will be inflatable rides, emergency medical service, fire and police equipment displays, demonstrations, exhibits, entertainment, stage shows and presentations, food, beverages and vendor giveaways.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, is hosting a Lego Club at 4 p.m. Sept. 17.

Kids in grades one and older are invited to create anything they want from the library’s Lego collection.

Family Fairy Tale Day, on July 19, begins with Fairy Tale Family Story Time at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers and their families to enjoy a magical morning of stories and crafts.

Mixed Up Fairy Tales, for second graders and older, features a special craft session at 1 p.m.

Then snuggle with your favorite stuffies and munch on free snacks during the Fairy Tale Matinee at 3 p.m.

Bring lunch and join the library staff for brown bag classics 1 p.m. Sept. 21.

This month’s classic movie is “The Philadelphia Story” starring Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart.

Join the library’s new monthly writing workshop “What’s Your Story” 3 p.m. Sept. 22. This workshop is designed to help writers learn how to write their memoirs.

Discover how to prevent identify theft and what to do if identity theft happens at the library’s free educational workshop with guest presenter Thrivent Financial 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 22.

Knitters of all ages and skill levels are welcome to bring knitting materials and swap knitting tips and tricks with the library’s knitting circle 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 24.

Kids in grades two to five are invited to craft some mini books with the Craft Club 4 p.m. Sept. 29.

Discover how coloring can both de-stress you and unleash creativity at the library’s special coloring session “Creative Coloring,” just for adults, at 6 p.m. Sept. 30.

All these events are free and will take place in the library.
