Kathleen (Walter) and Jerold Dougherty of Macungie celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 28.

The couple was married at Egypt Lutheran Church, Egypt, in 1965.

Both are graduates of Whitehall High School.

Jerry was a teacher for 34 years and Kathleen was a teacher for 28 years.

The couple was honored with a dinner celebration at Bear Creek Mountain Resort.

A luncheon was also held in their honor and hosted by their children and spouses, including Jennifer and Brad Woolley, Dr. Patrick and Julie Dougherty, Megan and Mike Carmosky, along with all the grandchildren.

Family, friends and members of the wedding party were in attendance.

The couple continued their anniversary celebration with a trip to Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.
