Honoring local heroes

emmaus

Every year, the Emmaus Public Library helps the Emmaus community to put a positive face on the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 through a special event at the library called “Community Heroes Day.” This year, the Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation is pleased to announce a special walkway at the Emmaus Remembrance Garden at Knauss Homestead to honor our community heroes throughout the years.

The walkway is a perfect way to highlight our local police, ambulance and firefighters by installing a brick in their honor.

The ECGF will install six bricks during the dedication of the walkway 5 p.m. Sept. 10.

After the brick installation and dedication, the celebration of our heroes continues at the Emmaus Public Library when the annual Community Heroes Day festivities begin 6 p.m. Kids of all ages can climb on a fire truck, look inside an ambulance and sit in a police car.

Bricks are still availble to honor a policeman, firefighter or ambulance corp. member. For more information, call Mike Waddell at 484-274-2089.
