Community Day to be celebrated Sept. 19 at Laurys Station
The fifth annual Laurys Station Community Day will begin 2 p.m. Sept. 19, at the North Whitehall Township recreation fields and the Laurys Station Fire Company.
The event includes displays of local history, firefighting demonstrations, dunk tank and moon bounce, antique and classic car display, Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Pack 144 encampment, Miller-Keystone blood drive, a variety of vendors and tethered hot air balloon rides, weather permitting.
The evening ends with a fireworks display.

A variety of foods will be available, including funny cake and shoofly pies, pumpkin bread and a pig roast.
Community Day is a project of St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road.
The church will cook up barbecued chicken 4-7 p.m. Sept. 12.
The meal may be eaten in the church social room or may be packaged for take-out.
St. John’s UCC returns to its 10:15 a.m. weekly worship time on Sept. 13.
Rally Day will be celebrated as children and adults begin a new Sunday School year at 9 a.m.

Lady Lilly Best Rebekah Lodge 222 extends an invitation to a Twisted Penny party at the Schnecksville Fire Hall 7 p.m. Sept. 16. Doors open at 6 p.m.
No pennies are needed. Instead, participants will receive 200 chances when they purchase a ticket.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, resumes worship times at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 13. Sunday School for all ages begins 9:15 a.m.
Union Lutheran is accepting book donations for the annual Book Fest on Sept. 13.
Times are 9-10:30 a.m. and noon-1:30 p.m. The public is welcome to come and choose books to take home.

Children’s Church opens a new term at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20, at Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.
Youngsters ages 3 through sixth grade begin worship time in the sanctuary, then depart to other rooms for lessons, songs, prayer and age appropriate activities.
The WHIRL curriculum, which includes videos, leaflets and Bible messages, was successful last year and will be used again.
Union UCC will celebrate Harvest Home at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services Sept. 20.
This long-held tradition includes not only a beautiful display but an opportunity to collect items for the Northern Lehigh Food Bank.
