‘Trying to save the world’

One local author is asking everyone to start recognizing climate change for what it is: a serious threat.

Len Frenkel, author of “Will We Survive Climate Change? One Last Chance,” chose the subject of climate change for his first book because the issue is one of his greatest concerns.

A friend of his began writing a book on the topic within the last six months, intended for students and environmentalists as well as the general public, and asked Frenkel to edit it.

Through reading the book, he became aware it would not be accessible to those with less than a graduate degree.

Feeling strongly everyone should become educated on the subject of the changing earth, Frenkel decided to write what he calls “a Reader’s Digest” version of his friend’s book.

According to Frenkel, his book is an introduction to the severity of climate change and addresses the questions of what climate change is, what causes it, what the consequences are and what the future looks like if no measures are taken to counteract it. He concludes with what he believes is humanity’s last chance to prevent the loss of all life on earth.

“It’s very serious book,” said the Bethlehem resident, originally from Queens, N.Y. “I think it covers all aspects of climate change that I’m aware of but not in depth, just enough to give you enough information to be very scared about the future.

“It’s much worse than what you read in the newspaper or what you see on television.”

For those interested in learning more about climate change and the proposed one last chance, “Will We Survive Climate Chance? One Last Chance” is available either as a paperback or an e-book on lulu.com, amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com.

Frenkel would like the information contained within the pages will reach millions of people as a way to promote change.

“I wrote it to try and save the world,” he said.
