The Emmaus Moravian Church, 148 Main St, Emmaus, offered the public the opportunity to shop for back-to-school clothing and backpacks, free of charge Aug. 15.
According to Director of Development Linda Wisser, this is the third year the church has held the event.
“We serve primarily the East Penn School District,” she said. “We target local families.”
A wide selection of clothing, coats, footwear and backpacks filled with back-to-school items were set out in the church ground floor for shoppers.
“We just do it because we’re glad to serve,” Wisser said.
The items, Wisser noted, were donated by the community. For instance, before the day of the event, someone anonymously donated 40 backpacks.
“We came in one day and 40 backpacks were spread out,” she said.
“We’re glad to serve our community that way,” Wisser said.
