St. E’s students back in school Aug. 31

Saint Elizabeth Regional School, Fullerton, will open for the 2015-16 school year on Monday, Aug. 31.

There is an enrollment of 182 girls and boys, kindergarten through eighth grade. The enrollment is two students greater than the previous school year, when 180 children attended the parochial elementary school.

Sister Bonita, Sisters of Mercy Order, returns as the principal, a post she has held since 1998.

Sister Bonita is the only nun at the school. The school is staffed by 17 certified lay teachers.

St. Elizabeth’s offers a wide range of courses in its curriculum, including its computer laboratory as well as its religious instructions.

Sister Bonita said she is concerned the state budget has not yet been adopted because books for the curriculum are funded by state monies.

The school serves the parishes of St. Elizabeth, Fullerton; St. Mary’s, Catasauqua; and Immaculate Conception, St. John and Peter & Paul, Allentown.
