An elderly man reported around 9:30 a.m. Aug. 7 that a contractor had committed fraud against him.
The man alleged he paid the contractor $2,667, one-third of the total price of an $8,000 contract, in June for siding work on his house on Linden Street, none of which was ever performed.
In an earlier incident July 15, a resident notified police around 10:45 a.m. she was contacted by a man identifying himself as a Microsoft employee. He convinced her to allow him remote access to her computer and requested $500 to restore her access to her own machine.
