Weisenberg Twp board deals with various issues

Surveyor William Beitler came before Weisenberg Township supervisors for preliminary plan review of F&M Land Company No.11 subdivision.

This two-lot subdivision, with one residential lot, is proposed for 7724 Carpet Road.

Supervisors reviewed the plan and granted approval. They also approved a waiver on the contour requirement in the SALDO.

In other matters, ordinances will be drafted to set speed limits of 30 mph on Bachelor Road from Golden Key Road to Silver Creek Road; and on Silver Creek Road from Militia Road to New Smithville Road.

Glen Fulpon of Blacksmith Road addressed the board concerning a weed mowing notice.

Township Administrator Brian Carl apparently received an anonymous complaint about the property and investigated.

The owners have been living on their 11-acre lot for 19 years and have decided to stop having the property farmed, let the land grow back to its natural state and not mow.

The Fulpons showed the board a plan they drafted for the property and the location of all items.

Supervisors voted in favor of granting a waiver on the mowing requirement.

The Hoffman property on Independent Road is being cleaned up, according to Carl.

Some of the vehicles and the junk have been removed, more will follow and other items have been placed in the garage, out of sight.

Carl, wearing his fire chief helmet, told the board there were 118 calls for service so far this year.

The fire station parking lot is finished and there is a meat pie sale underway until Aug. 22.

A FEMA grant to obtain a stand-by generator for the fire station has been applied for.

Roadmaster Anthony Werley reported the crew was oil and chipping and the line painters are at work on the township roads.

Township Treasurer Jeffrey Strauss reported he received settlement from Verizon.

A certificate of deposit is due and he asked the board about renewal.

Supervisors decided on a one- year renewal for the certificate.

Strauss also noted a problem with the sewer billings as one resident is not paying in timely fashion.

Solicitor Don Lipson will research the ordinance to see if there is a need for an amendment in the enforcement section.

Carl said PennDOT needs a small piece of property for the improvement of the Route 863 bridge.

As the tract was of such a small nature, 800-plus square feet, the board agreed a waiver of the subdivision requirement would be in order.
