Kutztown man charged in burglary, theft
State Police from Troop L, Reading, are investigating burglary which occurred Aug. 10 at 635 Noble St., and a theft at Bowers Sales and Rentals, 365 Fleetwood Road, Maxatawny Township, Berks County.
According to Trooper David Beohm, state police public information officer, Samuel Louis Kindl, 24, of Rosecrest Drive, Kutztown, was quickly identified by state police patrol unit members as allegedly stealing numerous items, including outdoor power equipment, bikes, woodworking tools and golf clubs.
Kindl was interviewed by members of the state police on Aug. 12 at his home regarding the theft of tools from 365 Fleetwood Road, Beohm said.
Beohm said items from the theft were allegedly found in plain view, in the rear of Kindl's pickup truck.
"Several other tools in the rear of the truck matched the description of items stolen from a nearby recent residential burglary," Boehm said. "It was also determined Kindl had several outstanding traffic warrants.
"Kindl was detained and transported to state police Reading barracks to be interviewed."
The pickup truck was towed to the state police impound lot.
A search warrant was executed, Beohm said.
"Kindl was brought back to Troop L, Reading, where he was interviewed in reference to the items in the truck," Beohm said.
During the interview, Kindl allegedly admitted to several thefts and burglaries investigated by Pennsylvania State Police, Reading.
Beohm said Kindl took investigators to a wooded area to the rear of Seem Drive, Kutztown Borough, where he allegedly was concealing two bicycles, a set of golf clubs, chainsaw, weed eater and saw set.
Beohm said Kindl also allegedly admitted to stealing these items.
Additionally, a Dewalt Power Grinder, Rigid Belt Sander, Rigid Shop Vac, Makita Circular Saw, Bike Rack, and a Dremel tool kit were recovered from Shaun's Second Hand Shop in Muhlenberg Township, Beohm said.
Kindl was charged with burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property for both crimes.
He was arraigned and is in Berks County Prison in lieu of a $20,000 bail.
