After a morning of meetings, special speakers and the awarding of door prizes, members of the Lehigh County Township Association of Township Officials partook of a picnic lunch, followed by some good-spirited road crew competition during the group's annual summer convention at the Schnecksville Fire Company.

The Equipment Rodeo pitted township against township in a friendly, but competitive battle of the bulldozer.

Winners were chosen based on the lowest combined time to complete four events.

From "keeping the egg on the bucket" to maneuvering a wire-held piece of PVC pipe and sliding it onto a stake, each event put the experienced heavy equipment operators' skills to the test.

Twelve operators faced off and it was a close one, but Erik Lynch from Heidelberg Township came out on top followed by Brian Rex of North Whitehall and Rich Bachert III of Upper Macungie Township.

The equipment for the rodeo was sponsored by Powerco Equipment, Plaster Equipment, and Ransome Cat.
