Salisbury alums say 'Follow your Dream'

In 2002, the Salisbury Press interviewed two Salisbury High School graduates in an article entitled, "Salisbury alums share equine dream."

The article featured Beth Lafrenz and Andrea Campbell (now Allen) who worked at a horse farm together and shared with The Press their love of horses and their plans for after college.

Thirteen years later, The Press caught up with Lafrenz and Allen to see where their dreams took them.

In 2002, both worked at Horseman's Hollow Farm, Zionsville. There, they were responsible for riding the horses based on the owner's requests, feeding the 30 horses and cleaning the stalls. At the time, Allen was attending college for equine science and Lafrenz graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in commercial design.

Both followed their dreams and still share a strong love of horses.

Allen graduated from Delaware Valley College with a degree in large animal equine and owns her own business where she performs cold laser on all animals and is certified to perform massage therapy on dogs and horses. She still owns horses and enjoys riding dressage and working cow horse.

Lafrenz, now the owner of Horseman's Hollow Farm, Zionsville, boards over 30 horses, teaches lessons to 50 children and attends horse shows regularly. She is also a real estate agent specializing in farm properties. She owns three horses and has five lesson horses. She enjoys riding jumpers and dressage.

Lafrenz learned to ride at just five years old, and Allen at age 10. They have been hooked since and agreed horses are their passion and a lifestyle.

For anyone looking to become involved in an equestrian lifestyle, both said, "It's a lifestyle."

"It's a 365 day a year job," Allen said. "It teaches responsibility and respect."

Lafrenz agreed. "You can't have this lifestyle without putting your all into it," Lafrenz said. "There are many lesson barns out there and it's a healthy, wholesome hobby."

"Follow your dreams," Allen said.
