S.W. police investigate 'swatting' incident

Several area police departments responded just after midnight July 22 to the area of 931 Glick Ave., South Whitehall, for a report of a shooting with injuries.

South Whitehall police say first responding officers determined the resources and personnel of the Lehigh County Municipal Emergency Response Team should be called.

As the incident evolved and additional information was obtained, the incident was determined to be a hoax, referred to as "swatting," police say.

Following a search by responding officers and the emergency response team, the area was determined to be safe.

Salisbury Township, Emmaus and Allentown police departments, along with Pennsylvania State Police, assisted at the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by South Whitehall police.
