Sports week at Camp Jefferson
Camp Jefferson had another fun-filled week of games and activities. This week featured a sports theme.
Jefferson campers were welcomed back to morning activities that included Silent Ball, Elbow Tag and an obstacle course on Monday. After lunch, we took our daily trip to the pool to beat the heat and swim until the end of the day.
We were joined by Camp Cementon for this week's field trip to Coca-Cola Park to see the IronPigs on Tuesday. The weather was a little hot and humid, but that didn't stop the campers from having a great time. In the end, they were treated to a 5-1 IronPigs victory over the Toledo Mud Hens.
We started off Wednesday with game of Knockout on the basketball courts and then moved inside for games of Koumasaka and Mafia, a game similar to Clue that was actually proposed by one of our campers.
Sticking with this week's sports theme, this week's craft gave the students the chance to make pennants using markers to create their own designs and logos.
Campers began Thursday with Four Square, which has become a tradition. Campers were then grouped into four teams for a handball tournament, which all of them really enjoyed. They were then given the option to choose their next activity. Some chose basketball, while others played on the playground.
To close out sports week, campers wore the jerseys of their favorite teams and players. Campers started the day by playing games that promoted both cooperation and teamwork.
Also, Friday meant the return of everyone's favorite sport, Battleball, which always brings out their competitive sides but also a lot of laughs as well. We ended the week with one final trip to the Jefferson pool that afternoon that served as a fitting end to a great week.
This week's Campers of the Week were Kyle and Bailey. Both were very respectful to both campers and counselors and avidly participated in all activities.
