Bonita L. Weaver, 71, from Slatington, died on July 22, 2015, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 4, 1944, in Schnecksville, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. Sr. and Dorothy J. (Schwoyer) Steckel.

She was employed in the textile industry for 45 years, last working for the former Paris Accessories, Walnutport.

A former Den Mother of Cub Pack 66, Slatington and a support staff member of the Slatington Volunteer Fire Department, she was a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Slatington Fire Police.

She was a 1962 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School.

Her survivors include children Arthur E. Weaver Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Allentown, Keith B. Weaver of Slatington, Melissa S. Frank and her husband, Todd, of Palmerton; sisters Linda A. Bowers and her husband, Russell, and Beverly A. Rex and her husband, Donald, all of Germansville; grandchildren Amanda, Shelby, Christopher, Austin, Arthur III and Brooke; and great-granddaughters Journee, Gracelynn and Avalynn.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Adrianna; and siblings Roy H. Steckel Jr. and Lynn M. Steckel.
