SALISBURY POLICE
Theft
Matthew Pletz, 46, of Catasauqua, was charged with theft and driving under suspension 2 p.m. July 14 following a traffic stop. Pletz allegedly was observed driving a white Chrysler minivan with a loud exhaust around the 700 block of Public Road, stopping and getting out of the vehicle and looking into homes. A witness reported Pletz allegedly removed a children's picnic table from a yard. Another resident alleged Pletz removed a car battery from a backyard. Pletz was taken to Central Booking for processing.
An unknown actor removed two 20-pound propane tanks and copper fittings from a yard at Laibles Mobile Home Park in the 1600 block of Seidersville Road 1:39 p.m. July 18.
Theft from vehicle
An official from Scott Mazda Volvo Dealership, 3209 Lehigh St., reported 3:40 p.m. July 8 an unknown actor entered a customer's car by breaking a rear window and removed a radio.
Illegal dumping
A resident in the 1500 block of Susquehanna Street reported 10:30 a.m. July 12 an unknown actor dumped trash in front of the home. The trash consisted of building materials such as drywall and roofing materials from renovations to a home in Allentown.
Lost property
Police were alerted to a lost backpack at Laubach Park, 1630 Lehigh Ave. 11:20 p.m. July 15.
Suicide attempt
Police helped a Salisbury resident in the 500 block of East Montgomery Street 9:11 p.m. July 16 after receiving information the resident threatened suicide. Police talked with the resident and convinced him to seek assistance at St. Luke's University Health Network.
Drugs
A resident tested positive for drugs at Lehigh County Center for Recovery, 1620 Riverside Drive, 1:55 p.m. July 16.
Criminal mischief
An unknown actor damaged a vehicle in the 700 block of Public Road 4:49 p.m. July 18. There was a dent in the driver's side door of the vehicle and a baseball bat was found near the car.
The inside liner of a pool in the 900 block of East Lexington Street was discovered cut 7:13 p.m. July 21.
Animal case
Residents called police about a pit bull dog running in the 1300 block of Maumee Avenue 8:14 p.m. July 19.
Assist police
Several area police departments responded just after midnight July 22 to the area of 931 Glick Ave., South Whitehall, for a report of a shooting with injuries. South Whitehall police say first responding officers determined the resources and personnel of the Lehigh County Municipal Emergency Response Team should be called. As the incident evolved and additional information was obtained, the incident was determined to be a hoax, referred to as "swatting," police say. Following a search by responding officers and the emergency response team, the area was determined to be safe.
Salisbury Township, Emmaus and Allentown police departments, along with Pennsylvania State Police, assisted at the scene.
