The state Department of Revenue will review 2013 benefit year property tax and rent rebate denied claims and pay the rebates, thanks to House Bill 1067. State Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th, said the decision should help shield seniors from losing their benefits through 2016.
Social Security cost of living increases would have pushed many Pennsylvania seniors over the rent/rebate income limit ($35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters). People 65 and older, widows and widowers age 50 and over, and people with disabilities age 18 and older, may qualify for the rebates.
